Zoomy takes microscopes out of labs

by Gareth Mankoo

Microscopes have started going the digital way sometime back now. What they haven’t really explored is, going portable with improved handheld ergonomics and more. The Zoomy microscope does just that, with magnification of objects up to 53 times their original view from the naked eye. It’s easy to use and hence a good home science companion, with a rotating dial on the top to control magnification. You can even record video or click images of magnified objects at the mere press of a button. With the help of USB connectivity, you can easily transfer your recorded footage to a computer.

The Zoomy Handheld is available for a modest $60. It’s a great learning tool for youngsters who want to explore science early on.
