All-weather extreme wheelchair with tank tracks demolishes toughest of the terrains
We have always believed that people confined to wheelchairs and paraplegics don’t get to have fun and are forced to settle for mundane mobility options. And it’s not that technology doesn’t exist to build something better than the existing wheelchairs. But there is something new, something mighty good! Behold the new ‘Ziesel’ which promises to become the ultimate mobility machine for differently abled. Austrian firm Mattro has designed the extreme wheelchair which has a tubular frame which provides rollover protection and tank treads that’ll take on the most perilous terrains that normally would be totally inaccessible to normal wheelchairs.
The all weather wheelchair Ziesel looks like a proper off-roading quad-bike and even mirrors the standards of robustness. It’s even got a racing seat with five point racing harness that’ll safely secure all the thrill seekers. Despite the tank treads, the wheelchair is blazingly fast as compared to other motored wheelchairs with a top speed of 35 km/h (22mph). It weighs 210kgs (463 lbs) and uses an eco-friendly high performance electric motor powered by lithium-ion batteries. But at €21,710 (nearly $30k) and that’s without the $1,500 charger and tow bar to turn it into a snowmobile, it’s quite steeply priced. But nevertheless, it’s still one of the coolest things we’ve come across this year!
