Video: Nokia to use nanotechnology, making your phone water repellant

by Gareth Mankoo

What science makes possible, few of us can deny. Among such is the idea of a water-repelling technology, being worked on by Nokia and inspired by the drops on a leaf, per say. The Superhydrophobic coating on the outside of the phone will make this possible. This seems effective mainly in situations where your phone is attacked by droplets. Say rain. With nanotechnology it will be possible for the outer coating to trap a layer of air on the surface and effectively compel the water to take form of droplets that can be controlled by you. Video after the jump.

If you still cannot picture a scenario as such the draw your thoughts to a non-stick frying pan that makes it easy to control the flow of and dispel liquids on it.
