Verizon foots $2 charge on bill payments online and via phone

by Gavril Mankoo

Verizon, pink-cheeked and embarrassed, decided to backtrack on its recent decision to charge a $2 fee on bill payments online, or via the phone, after a sever customer backlash. Verizon Wireless, cheeky as ever, had planned on charging this fee for every payment customers make via the phone or online using their credit or debit cards, boldly christening it as a “convenience” fee. Also, Verizon claims that this was a simple attempt to drive its users into making electronic check payments, for which, the fee was waived. Well, Verizon seems to have put customer-convenience upfront for once, and has footed the move, which is bound to leave subscribers smiling again.
