United Airlines offers overseas Wi-Fi with Satellite-equipped 747

by Gareth Mankoo

United Airlines have just made aviation headlines with the announcement that a Boeing 747-400 is hovering around a globe with a continuous connection. This is the first such connected flight, ever. This means that passengers can connect to the internet during long international flights as well. What’s awesome is that connectivity is assured without ensuring that the airplane is within range of air-to-ground transmitters. Users can choose between the Standard connection or the Accelerated one. The service is also expected to expand to A320, along with Boeing 737, 757, 767, 777 and 787 aircraft.

The Standard package is available between $4 and $15 while the Accelerated one would cost between $6 and $20.
