Toshiba developing a copier with an erasable toner

by Gareth Mankoo

Recycling just got a breath of fresh air with Toshiba’s copier that is making its rounds through early development cycles. This cool copier device prints using a special erasable toner. When the paper is passed through the color erasing device, its contents are erased, thus making it reusable. This special toner only works with supporting devices. Says the bosses, “This is a special kind of toner that loses its color when heated, so this technology makes it look as if the printing has disappeared. With this system, one sheet of photocopy paper can be used at least five times, so this product combines economy with ecology.”

And of course, the device can also scan. It’s quite revolutionary and kind of a good, benchmark for optimal recycling without compromising on much. I’m with it! You?
