Tokyo Institute of Technology develops porter robot that carries your luggage for you

by Gavril Mankoo

Now you don’t need to hire a porter or drag your heavy luggage behind you at airports or railway stations, not with this smart and helpful porter robot doing the job for you. Developed by a research group from the Tokyo Institute of Technology, this one simply follows you around, carrying your luggage for you, without so much of a whimper or a complain. All you need to do is control the movement via a connected cord, with the robot measuring the position relationship based on the cords length and direction all by itself. Also, all you need to do is give the cord a tug, and the robot self-propels itself forward, working as a cheap and inexpensive yet technologically driven way to having your luggage moved around.
