Tokyo gets the worlds smartest vending machines
Tokyo’s Shinagawa station is home to two state of the art vending machines from JR East Water Business co. Like the earlier machines these pack in a 47 inch motion activated touchscreen which smartly displays the wares and interact with customers. Like its predecessor it also packs in a camera which determines the age and sex of the person standing in front of it. Whats more is they are now upgraded with Wimax so they can send the customer attributes on the fly for better processing and recommendations. Customers can pay in cash or using their Felica or Suica enabled mobile phones. In the event of a disaster the machines can be remotely instructed to offer free drinks. The company plans to install 500 of these connected vending machines in the next 2 years.
