Standard Chartered’s MasterCard Display Card packs display, text input

We could see payment cards get smarter but those remained only in design concepts or more. However, with MasterCard’s new move in Singapore we will soon see this innovative technology come to the masses, sooner. The company has tied up with Standard Chartered Bank to herald the manufacture of a MasterCard Display Card. The cards are produced by NagraID Security and function like regular cards. There will be buttons and a display on it, to allow users to enter a One-Time Password to authenticated security. In the future, the company plans to further extend the card’s capabilities by adding account updates and more.

The MasterCard Display Card will currently only serve Standard Chartered’s Online Banking customers. Matthew Driver, the President of MasterCard South East Asia said, “With the continued growth in online and now mobile initiated remote payments, consumers are naturally demanding increased security. The innovative features of the Display Card serve to address this need, whilst empowering consumers to do so much more with their payment cards.”
