Sony has started shipping two new Grand WEGA micro-display rear projection high-definition TVs (HDTVs). The 70-inch KDS-R70XBR2 and 60-inch KDS-R60XBR2, which use Sony’s three 0.61-inch SXRD chips, support full resolution of 1,920×1,080 and are based on the company’s Silicon X-tal Reflective Display (SXRD) technology. The two XBR sets round out the complete SXRD line announced earlier this year. They sport a contrast ratio of 10000:1 and response time of 2.5ms. Connectivity options include two HDMI (high-definition multimedia interface) inputs with 1080p capability, front HDMI HDV camcorder connection and a PC input.

The Sony KDS-R70XBR2 and KDS-R60XBR2 units are available for about $7,000 and $4,300, respectively.
