Sony introduces 10.1-inch portable Blu-ray/DVD player
by Gareth MankooSony is taking the entertainment outside home with an impressive Blu-ray/DVD player called the BDP-SX1. It’s the company’s first such portable offering with LED backlighting and resolutions of up to 1,024×600 on the 10.1-inch display. This display can be rotated by 180 degrees, every time you want someone to check a particular scene out. The display folds in and forms a solid case so that your screen is well away from threats of cracks and breaks. Other features include format support for MPEG-1/2/4 video, MPEG-4 AVC/H.264, WMV, AVCHD. MP3/WMA/AAC/Linear PCM, and JPEG images, USB or memory stick connectivity, slide show support for those who want to use it as a photo frame, a pair of stereo speakers with four sound mode settings, HDMI-output and AV connectivity support.
With 5 hours of high-definition video playback, you are left with very little to complain about. The BDP-SX1 will be available from October 28th, most likely in Japan, for 50,000 Yen ($650).
