Sony develops touch screen LCD
Sony Japan has developed a 3.5 inch touch screen LCD sporting a resolution of 640 x 480. Its applications will be of course mobile phones, MP3 players, Games (who knows we might see a touchscreen PSP). Unlike traditional touch screen LCD’s which have a touch sensitive panel stuck on them, Sony has developed a low temperature polysilicon TFT technology which makes the panel extremely thin and light weight. The LCD can display 16 million colors and like the iPhone it supports multi-touch (upto 5 points) and can be operated with a finger.
No information is available regarding pricing and availability, however I am really looking forward for Sony Ericsson phones using this technology.
