Sony announces special edition Xperia A Hatsune Miku SO-04E smartphone for Japan

Sony has just announced a special edition Xperia A series smartphone for their home turf of Japan. 39,000 units will be produced of this particular piece that will feature the very popular – singing synthesizer application with a humanoid persona, Hatsune Miku. In collaboration with NTT Docomo and the developer of the digital space starlet, Crypton Future Media, Sony has announced the Xperia A Hatsune Miku SO-04E special edition. Aside from the superficial touches like a specially decorated housing for the handset featuring the character, the handset will also come loaded with plenty of exclusive content including a dedicated app with widget for listening to her music. Sony will also be shipping the SO-04E with a “Miku color” NFC-compatible Bluetooth wireless headset.


The handsets specifications include a 4.6-inch 720p HD display (720 x 1280 pixels) and will run off of a 1.5GHz quad Core processor and 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, making this special edition quite a feature rich device overall. It will ship with Android Jelly Bean version 4.2. Its dimensions are said to be 131x67x10.5 mm and it will weigh in at 141g. Although the handset is slated to launch sometime in late September, pre orders will begin from late August and early September online and via Docomo shops. The price hasn’t been announced yet.
