Shelby Tuatara Supercar will surpass Bugatti Veyron with 275mph speed
by ruchiAll this while it was the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport that has been gloating over its title of the world’s fastest production car in the world with a top speed of 268 mph. but looks like Shelby Supercars is going to rob away that pedestal from Bugatti with its Tuatara supercar that is reported to touch the roaring speed of 275mph. The name actually translates to a reptile in Maori language which means ‘peaks on the back.’ We find the name quite befitting owing to the fact the car has winglets on the back.
The Tuatara lizard is known for its fastest evolving DNA in the world and hence the makers couldn’t think of a better name than this one. The body of the car is crafted out of carbon fiber and wrapped around a carbon chassis too. Its crash structures are made from aluminum whereas the wheels are again made of carbon fiber. The engine here is a twin-turbocharged 7.0-liter V-8 developing upwards of 1,350 horsepower, and drive will be sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed manual transmission. No word on pricing and availability yet.
