Samsung’s next generation of set top boxes to do a lot more

At the CES Samsung will be showcasing its next generation of set top boxes which will be more like home media stations. It would be a part of Samsung’s DNLA (Digital Living Network Alliance) which will allow the Set Top Box to freely access data (video, images etc) from compatible devices like Notebook PC’s mobile phones, MP3 players and so on. In addition to this you can stream or broadcast content from the set top box to be viewed on the cell phone or PMP. It will be Internet ready and will include widgets for stocks, weather and news updates. Apart form this Samsung will be releasing an API for the set top box which allow cable operators and networks to launch personalized service. More details when CES kicks off this week.
