Samsung to commence volume production of PM830 Series mSATA SSD

Samsung Electronics today announced that they will put the PM830 Series mSATA SSD on assembly line, for mass production. The drive is designed for high performance capabilities to be bought to notebooks. This is made possible with the ultra-slim form factor. The PM830 is based on 20 Nano NAND flash and supports Mini-Serial ATA (mSATA). The real beauty is the fact that the drive weighs only 8 grams and is just one-third the size of a business card.

The PM830 mSATA SSD will comes a 32GB, 64GB, 128GB and 256GB drives. There’s no idea on the cost alterations that this may cause in notebooks. The benefits though, are quite clear.
