RIM’s PlayBook cannot match iPad, or even Galaxy Tab’s battery life

by Gareth Mankoo

There seems to be an unwarranted problem with the battery life of Research In Motion’s tablet PC, the PlayBook. After quite an introduction, the device seems to have taken a backseat in the sphere of competition. It seems that the device has trouble keeping up with the 10-hour battery life challenge from iPad or even with the 6-hour battery life from Samsung’s Galaxy Tab. There’s word that some amount of reengineering is still required for the tablet to be done, in order to get the device a worthy release-ready state.

All of this has been claimed by an analyst who firmly believes that there isn’t much scope for tablets outside the iPad realm. Not fair, no?
