RIM CEO exits BBC Click interview mid-way

by Shalu Pillai

Every journalist wants a scoop. But in the day and age of monitored public relations department, often enough they have to make do with rehearsed and pre-approved quotes. So when BBC’s technology correspondent Rory Cellan-Jones had the opportunity to speak with Mike Lazaridis, the co-chief executive of Research in Motion (RIM), he must have got a tad bit too excited. After speaking about RIM’s new Playbook tablet, he posed a question for BBC Click about RIM’s problems in India and the Middle East, where governments have demanded greater access to the tight security system used for Blackberry’s business users. Unfortunately for Cellan-Jones, Lazaridis was in no mood to answer the question and responded by saying the question was unfair and exited the interview. Oops!

You can catch a complete cut of the interview will be broadcast on the television edition of BBC Click later in April.
