Plextor External DVD Burner works independent of computer

Why do DVD burners always have to be a space and port-hogging appendage for PCs? It’s high time we have these extremely useful backing up devices on other electronics too. Take the TV for instance. This is what the Plextor External DVD Burner is made for. It can connect to your TV set and doesn’t require any connectivity to your PC. Called the PX-612U, this DVD burner will connect via USB and works with TV and media streamers. With a special technological ability made possible by a technology called PlexTV, the output device of the system is treated like a HDD.

The price of the Plextor PX-612U is yet unknown. It can be expected by Q1 2012 for sure.
