Philips launches Hue+Ambilight integration along with 60” Elevation TV
by Sayan ChakravartyWhile trying to make TV’s wafer thin and trying to pack as many pixels as possible, companies keep trying other possibilities to make TV viewing experience richer. Philips, which manufactures wireless Hue LED light bulbs, has coupled it with their Ambilight TV’s to come up with an awesome combination that’ll let the effect spread across the room rather than behind the screen. The combo of Hue+Ambilight can be controlled by an Android and iOS app to give out a more immersive viewing experience as claimed by Philips. The app is compatible with Ambilight TV’s from 2011 onwards.
Alongside, Philips has also unveiled its thinnest 60” LCD TV named ‘Elevation TV’. The 3D-capable, 1080p LCD introduces a four-sided Ambilight system which has 94 LEDs in total to create a fuller and more beautiful hue around the screen. It comes with 4 HDMI and 3 USB ports and a transparent stand. It’s expected to go on sale by Q3 in Europe and Russia with a sticker price of £2,800 (US$4,175).
