Nokia 6216 with NFC for wireless payments
The third Near Field Communication cellphone has been introduced which is the Nokia 6216. This phone is capable of storing credit card, user account and other security details on the SIM card making the phone usable for paying for items or to sign-in to systems by tapping it against or waving it in front of a wireless reader. Ofcourse all this can be done assuming that such services sign up for the system which requires an NFC compatible SIM and the appropriate subscriptions. The Nokia 6216 is a standard handset with 3G connectivity, a 2 MP camera, radio and a media player with a MicroSD card slot that can hold upto 8GB of space. It will be available in select markets in the 3rd quarter of 2009 for a price of $195 before taxes and subsidies.
