Next gen iPhone expected on Sept 10 with Sapphire encased fingerprint scanning Home button

Apple fans the aficionados of all that is tech are on high alert as sources are saying that Apple is gearing up to unveil the next generation iPhone on September 10. There’s a lot to be expected from the new handset and rumors about expected features, leaked images have been making rounds as usual. The big question is what will Apple introduce in the new device that will make it really compete with what the competition has been dishing out lately. With Samsung and LG’s new high end devices making big waves in the mobile market, Apple’s iPhone has been dealing with a lot of pressure to stay at the top of its game.

The introduction of iOS 7 and the new additions to the UI will of course make a significant difference but I’d personally like to see a newer design form as well. LG’s newly announced G2 and the upcoming Moto X devices (comparison here) are bringing some big numbers in terms of specifications and user experience to the table. One of the biggest rumored additions to the next gen iPhone’s specs is a bio metric fingerprint scanner that’s to be embedded below the devices signature Home button. There’s some talk that this added security measure will be encased in a Sapphire Crystal housing to prevent damage. There’s also word that the traditional button itself would now be convex in form as opposed to concave style. Hardware upgrades like a high resolution camera and display along with an upgraded processing power and GPU are simply natural evolutionary changes that we expect to see. There are however rumors that perhaps added color options would be available so the basic white and black schemes won’t be all you’re presented with.

A fingerprint scanner, although tried and tested by other companies like Porche Design a few years ago in the P’9521 flip-phone, didn’t make enough of an impact to be used on other devices. So it’s doubtful that Apple bringing back this tech in a more sophisticated manner will have much of an effect on the company’s popularity. It’ll be just another luxury product that not everyone can afford with a feature that befits the high price it’ll most assuredly come with. Apple is going to have to bring its A-game like never before. Let’s hope we not only see a better looking design but a few more tweaks to the UI as well to take the whole iPhone experience up a notch.
