London’s double-decker bus looks futuristic in this hybrid avatar
The legacy of the double-decker bus has been unquestioned as much as that of the London Cabbie. But times change and generations take control of the world, leaving old ideas behind and bringing in new innovations. Here’s a hybrid version of the legendary double-decker bus that will soon take over one of the world’s oldest cities. It will be more fuel-efficient with 11.6 miles to the gallon. This seems to be a satisfactory number for something of the likes of a city bus. The diesel-electric innards are the work of Volvo.
A trial of this bus is being built by Wrightbus and will be in use by 2012. This may be the first revamp after 50 years to this iconic mode of travel.
