Hitachi introduces 4.5-inch IPS HD display with amorphous silicon backplane

Hitachi’s new portable device screen seems to be making headlines in Geeksville. The 4.5-inch IPS HD display by the company manages resolutions of up to 1280×720 pixels and a contrast ratio of up to 1,100:1. What really takes the slice is the fact that the display brags all of this with the provision of a 329ppi display that is reminiscent of the famous retina displays we saw in Apple devices. But this is all stale news from the beginning of this year. Now, Hitachi looks to giving it an amorphous silicon backpane and release it as a different model. The only difference that bothers is a slight drop in the contrast ratio to 1,000:1.

The big advantage is that these displays cost a lot lesser. So you can expect more usage, almost same performance and definitely, better screens all over the world.
