Google sues the US government for Microsoft bias

by Gareth Mankoo

If we ever thought that there would exist an age when technology giants would overpower governments then this is it. Google have apparently gone on to sue the Department of the Interior because, according to the former, they didn’t take Google Apps seriously when it put out a Request For Quotation (RFQ). According to Google the clause used by the RFQ, stating that the solution had to be part of the Microsoft Productivity Online Suite was ‘unduly restrictive of competition’. The government department stated in its defense that the Microsoft suite had unified/consolidated email and enhanced security, while the complainant’s solution did not.

So are we seeing the Government and Microsoft battle Google in a legal battle? With Google being the accusing party, it only makes their claim of world domination stronger.
