A Google Chrome plugin that pauses videos when you look away

by dhiram

It is not a software company that has created this plugin, it actually comes from the German auto giant Volkswagen. The plugin is created to promote the automakers newest ‘Start-Stop’ technology which aims to saves gas by turning off the engine when the car stops. We have seen similar functionality in the Samsung Galaxy SIII which turns the screen on when the user looking at it and the smart scroll function on the Galaxy S4 which lets users scroll through the screen just by moving their eyes up and down. The Chrome plugin uses the computer’s camera and facial recognition to pause a video when you are looking away from it.
