Free anti-virus from Microsoft

Microsoft, the biggest software company in the world has recently announced that they are getting ready for launching a free anti-virus for the personal computers. This is going to be a bad news for companies like Symantec and McAfee. They are already testing an early version of the product and soon a trial version is expected to be available. Well we are already seeing changes in the share market with shares falling for Symantec and McAfee by 0.5% and 1.3% respectively. It also gave a 2.1% rise in the share value of Microsoft in NYSE. The anti-virus will be offering all the basic features for engaging itself against a wide range of viruses. It is more likely a competition threat to the low-end products that cost about $40 a year of Symantec and McAfee. Microsoft has said that it will provide protection from several types of malicious software including viruses, spyware, rootkits and Trojans.
