First hospital bed with a treadmill in tag
Beds with built in treadmills could soon revolutionize the way obese patients exercise. Sure we all know the presence of adjustable beds which assist weak patients to get out of their beds or other serious cases to merely sit to eat. It’s very hard for obese patients to even roll on the other side without the need for some assistance. A surgeon at Creighton University in Omaha, Neb. wants to combine the ease of the adjustable bed with the power of a treadmill to produce one cool gadget that can recline to a fully standing position and help the patient take those crucial steps to recovery.
The aim of the new design is to give patients the independence to simply start walking while recovering through illness. When not in use, the treadmill sits in a vertical position at the end of the bed, and when required the treadmill tilts to its place with little assistance if at all.
