Could Samsung be planning carbon fiber smartphones?
by Gavril MankooSamsung has been leading the way when it comes to innovation in technology these days, giving a bunch of contemporary brands red cheeks and lots to be embarrassed about. A while ago, the South Korean brand was rumored to be exploring a bunch of alternative materials that could be incorporated in the smartphones it dishes out and we’ve got a hint of what could be coming up next! Recently, Samsung Petrochemical and SGL Group formed a joint venture and have apparently done so to “develop new industrial and electronic applications with carbon composite materials for Samsung and the Korean market.” What does this spell out in the long run? Carbon fiber smartphones!
Now the companies involved in this haven’t really spoken much about developing carbon fiber phones in particular, but the possibilities do seem likely. Building a phone with carbon fiber obviously has a bunch of added advantages including lighter weight and extra toughness, besides a cool drool-worthy finish. Here’s hoping that the next Samsung Galaxy S phone comes with a carbon fiber housing!
