Corning develops next-generation ultra-thin and flexible Willow Glass
by Gavril MankooCorning expects future technology to be more delicate, and users to turn more butter-fingered and to well-protect future technology, the makers of the surprisingly strong Gorilla Glass have developed a next-generation protective glass called the Willow Glass. An ultra-slim and flexible glass in essence, the Willow Glass enables future devices to be wrapped and curled. Also, the glass will support thinner backplanes and colour filters for OLED and LCD displays. The Willow Glass will be mass-produced in a continuous roll-to-roll process, similar to paper manufacturing unlike previous manufacturing methods.
