Coastalwatch software to help surfers with updates

by Gareth Mankoo

You really need to get all the facts and figures right before you set off to tackle the unpredicatable waves. Hence we have something like the Coastalwatch software that analyzes live video segments from its cameras so as to study the nature of a wave and provide information like its height and wave period. The cameras all have web access and are numbered at over a hundred. The best part is that the surf reports thus generated are updated automatically. This can far out-do the current day surf reporter time.

The first camera to be used to kickstart the application of this technology will be at Snapper Rocks on the Australian Gold Coast. So make sure that you make it good this weekend. Get those tickets for Ozz land soon!
