Clippard Air Guitar uses pneumatic actuators to rock and roll!

by Gavril Mankoo

An air guitar is indeed the quickest and easiest instrument out there to master. Well, given the fact that it’s made of nothing but air, with a dash of your imagination, this instrument usually has you wind up looking like a wannabe trying to rock his soul away. Now, the air guitar concept finally turns into something more material than just air and imagination. Called the Clippard Air Guitar, this contraption uses pneumatic actuators to hold down chords and picks and strums the strings while being controlled by an iPad-based MIDI controller. So, all you need to do is push a button, and the guitar plays those blues for you! Now this might probably make real guitar players frown and grind their teeth. But then again, it sure beats strumming the air!
