Chiba L.E.D. cockpit system

by Dhiram Shah

Chiba Institute of Technology’s Future robot technology research center or FURO has developed the L.E.D. (Leading edge design) cockpit. It has a hemispherical screen where the video feed from the robot is displayed. The screen with a diameter of 150 cms is housed in the Hull. The robot is controlled via a pair of force feedback joysticks, for eg – if the robot nears a wall the joystick turns hard so the operate can maneuver the robot accordingly. In control here is the Haluc II robot developed by Chiba itself.
