CES: Parrot teases us and our pockets with $999 Zikmu Solo speakers

by Gareth Mankoo

Parrot have a knack of leaving us longing with their amazing peripherals. Now, it’s the turn of the Zikmu Solo wireless speaker system to leave the deep gashes of relentless teases. It is much in line with the previous model that came around four years ago, looking at the outside, but the gut of this monster has surely churned up an appetite for more. By this, we mans a 2×100-watt output and a built-in 1GHz ARM A8 processor . What’s more is it comes with support for Bluetooth with DLNA for streaming Wi-Fi, Ethernet (really?) and NFC. It retains the 30-pin port for Apple device connectivity though. And then of course, there’s a bevy of apps that help control the speaker better.

The company has ensured a slight price drop from the previous variation, but nothing makes $999 look less when you’re dealing with a phone accessory. The speaker was demonstrated with another Zikmu Solo, paired via Wi-Fi and controlled from an iPad. Much the dream of a geeky audiophile.
