Boxee’s set-top box looks totally boxed up

by Gareth Mankoo

Boxee has come out with a set-top box, produced by D-Link, called the Boxee Box. The box looks like a submerged cube and allows users to access various web-based media content with a simple interface on the front-end application that works on both Windows and Mac systems. AV out on the system is limited to HDMI and analog RCA audio, it will also provide with an Ethernet port and most probably Wi-fi connectivity. It will come with a RF remote and USB ports on the rear. It also has a SD slot in the front.

The Boxee Box is set to be released in the second quarter of 2010 for $200. It is capable of playing any DRM media file. Catch a demo of the Boxee Box next month, at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
