BMW welcomes the Apple iPhone, access mobile-phone functions on the go
Cheers to BMW for adding iPhone compatibility to the list. Sidelining Mercedes for a change, BMW has announced on its North America page that it will add the option of an interface that will allow the car owners to use their iPod function of the iPhone. According to the site cars in the 3 and 5 series (production date of March ’07 or later), X5 models (April ’07 or later) and 6 series models (September ’07 or later) will comply with this. The iPhone has a 30-pin connector as compared to the iPod and hence it is not currently compatible with all iPod accessories.
BMW Assist and Bluetooth hands-free calling help the car-owners to access mobile-phone functions while the music can be accessed through the cars controls and radio display via a iPod/USB interface.
