Bluetooth 3.0 + HS adds speed with 802.11
The Bluetooth SIG gets official with the latest and greatest version of Bluetooth. Bluetooth 3.0 + HS promises to be faster than prior iterations. The new standards put Bluetooth into a new dimension making it enough to handle camcorder to HDTV, PC to PMP and UMPC to printer transfers. The inclusion of 802.11 Protocol Adaptation Layer provides increased throughput of data transfers at an approximate speed of 24 Mbps. It will consume a lot of power but the 802.11 will remain switched off till a transfer takes place. So in that case the power consumption is pretty low. As for end products, we can definitely expect Bluetooth 3.0 in systems that are currently operating without it and next generation cellphone will definitely opt for this advanced version of Bluetooth.
