Bang & Olufsen launches BeoLab 9

by Dhiram Shah

After much anticipation, Bang & Olufsen America, the North American provider of high end home theaters and custom multi room music systems, announced the arrival of its newest loudspeaker – BeoLab 9. It continues Bang & Olufsen’s move away from graceful though easily imitated column loudspeakers to shorter, rounder forms with larger cabinet volumes and better potential for strong bass performance. The Beolab 9 uses Acoustic Lens Technology that creates an ideal listening enviroment for any listener regardless of their location in the room, and “Adaptive Bass Linearisation” technology reduces distortion and the risk of damaging the units when you want to bump bass heavy music. Partly integrated into the conically-shaped cabinet that holds the mid-range and bass units, the lens sits atop the speaker…almost like a lighthouse….dispersing the treble in an arc of 180 degrees. The speaker’s height is perfectly positioned at ear-level that is only if the listener is seated.

To many people, this is the essence of Bang & Olufsen: a modern design icon as well as a deeply functional music system. And such people can own a BeoLab 9 for a blasting sum of $9900 only!
