Auto-lock your PC with body heat sensors

by Shalu Pillai

If you’re paranoid about accessibility to your PC, but tend to forget to Ctrl+Alt+Del to lock it, a developer has now written an application that locks your computer on its own, if you’re not at your desk. This one works using an IR heat sensor, which can monitor your body heat and when it sees that you’re no longer there, it locks down the system, ensuring nobody can access your confidential reports. You can set custom delays before locking and the temperature at which the lock will trigger.

The application is free to download, but the sensor used to detect the body temperature costs about $90. Our friends at Hack-A-Day have suggested that it could work with any USB temperature sensor, so a cheaper alternative could be available.
