Asus picks Android over Microsoft for tablet

by Gareth Mankoo

There aren’t too many tablets that are really shaking up the circuit at the moment though we have to admit all that are there, are doing a rather swell job. Among the chaos we have news that the Eee Pad will sport the Android OS that Asus planned to pick, over the Microsoft OS. There’s also word that there may have been something like a slimmed down version of Windows on the working model. This saves all the licensing fees that would otherwise be spent with a Microsoft backend.

We can expect 3G connectivity and an Android 3.0 OS working behind the scene for the Eee Pad. The probable release date is Q1 2011.
