ASUS intros its first Supercomputer ESC 1000

ASUS offers desktops, laptops, netbooks, and nettops. The only thing remaining in ASUS’ computer line up was a supercomputer. And with the introduction of ESC 1000, ASUS even filled up that void. The first Asus supercomputer is powered by latest Intel Xeon proceossor, and relies on NVIDIA GPUs for its graphics prowess. It is designed for researchers who work in areas such as medicine, computer modeling, image processing, etc.


The ESC 1000 runs on LGA1366 Xeon W3580 microprocessor (3.33GHz) and boast of three NVIDIA Tesla c1060 and one NVIDIA Quadro FX5800 graphics processing units.
Other features include 24GB of DDR3 1333MHz memory, 500GB SATA hard drive, and a 1100 watt power supply.
No word on exact pricing, but it appears that the ESC 1000 comes with a cost structure in software and hardware of $14,519 over five years.
