Apple secretly tracking all the iPhones and IMEI

by Dhiram Shah

Hidden deep inside the Stocks and Weather widgets is a code which tracks your usage and IMEI numbers on all the iPhones worldwide. Hidden in the code is a string which sends the IMEI of your phone to a specialized URL that Apple collects. The process works in the background when the widgets perform a query an IMEI is send to Apple’s servers. This tells Apple which apps you use when the iPhone is connected and also the stocks and companies you are interested in. Modify the code to exclude the url from transmitting and the widgets will stop working. It is still unknown if any other applications leak information to Apple HQ.

And did you know you actually consented to this gross invasion of privacy?
