Alcoho-lock keeps grants you your bicycle only if you’re sober

by Gareth Mankoo

Riding your bicycle when drunk has adverse effects. Other than your absolute lack of respect for the road rules and poor reflexes, you also jeopardize your life and the lives of others on the street. Alcoho-lock seems to be the perfect solution to make sure you do not take to the streets on pedals and wheels, when drunk. It is basically a bicycle lock with a cool alcohol-detection function. It pairs with your smartphone via an app and displays the alcohol levels in your breath. All you have to do is exhale into it. To unlock you simply tap a button on the app followed by a messaging being displayed, prompting you to get back home on foot.

The project is spearheaded by Grey Worldwide. The body of the lock is made from aluminum and it packs a 800 mAh built-in battery. It can be charged via microUSB. The Alcoho-lock is available for around 40,000 Yen ($322).
