Acer all set to manufacture smartphones
Acer has confirmed that they will be joining the smartphone manufacturing arena and will finally be releasing their first smartphone by the first quarter of 2009.The acquisition of E-Ten, a Taiwan-based smartphone maker, last September, has made this announcement possible. Acer has been a good stable line of portable computers, the company has strongly held its footing until now, and it’s projecting a rather bold 15%-20% increase in sales by the first semester of 2009. Smartphones will represent as much as 10 percent of Acer’s revenue in the next few years. No official release date or pricing has been announced yet. The only feature noted for now is that its operating system would be from Microsoft.
