Sony had major plans to make a PSP without the UMD drive right from the beginning of the system’s life. The company didn’t want to just bring it on just like that because they thought nobody would enjoy it. So they built the right environment for it first. They have been working on this for the past two years. It certainly makes sense for Sony to plan ahead so far in advance, since most hardware manufacturers do. [1UP]...
First developed in 1979, Atari’s eternal favorite video game that made it to some cellphones as well, called Asteroids, became a sensation. It still injects the right amount of nostalgia in most of us as we move around space shooting down asteroids that obstruct our way. Arcade games have all the makings of classics for generations to come, I tell you. However, Asteroids is to be taken into a whole new level with a movie whose making is expected...
Ever since the introduction of the gaming console, it has predominantly had male fans. But it seems recently, the Wii has noticed a five percent increase in its female console gamers this year. The company that did the research said that that there ‘was a "transformative" one in terms of "defining the audience for gaming"’. Another thing they noticed was that gamers spent 38 percent of their time playing online titles, while 16 percent of games purchased in the...
This would have been a perfect device for my parents if this was invented 20 years ago. This device costs only $30 and can be used to set time on how many minutes or hours a video game can be played by kids. An excellent tool for parents to stop the ongoing argument! I remember arguing with my folks for hours for playing just one hour. Looks like this is going end soon. Morrissey, 79 years old, is the...

There are already promotional photos of the black Wii and blue Wii remote and nunchuck but they can be seen at the World Hobby Fair. You cannot touch them only look at them. The contrast between the glossy and matte portions on the Wiimote and nunchuck is much more noticeable on the black finish. Nintendo is still saving the word of a press release date for another day....
Sony is in touch with developers and apparently will be launching the controller in Spring 2010. The controller works with games of genres be it the basic ones or the resource hungry graphic intensive ones. This controller will work with Sony’s eye camera and microphone which will add face and voice recognition, making motion tracking more accurate. The DualShock can be used along with the motion controller exactly like how Nintendo uses the Wiimote and Nunchuck. Still no word...
There’s word that Mortal Kombat 9 (yes, 9!) will come out with what all of us MK fans have been waiting for: real, hardcore gore! No more pretty fatalities and kicks and special moves but real, gut wrenching gore for everyone to enjoy. It does inject that insensitive pleasure every time I punch the dork in the face. The sound, the whack seems to give us that sinister joy and accomplishment beyond compare. The new engine brings in tidings...
Ever wondered what goes inside your Nintendo DSi while you play? Well now you can see just that, with the XCM Eye-Candy Crystal Clear Shell. Just remove the existing cover of the DSi and fix this shell on it to reveal the complicated circuit and boards that makes up the DSi. Fixing this new shell can get quite complicated; just be careful not to blow the entire thing off. Although am not sure who would want to look at...
Looks like those who love bowling and are finding it difficult to play your favorite game on your Wii, well here comes another gadget that will help you excel in it – the Wii Bowling peripheral. This Wiimote accessory lets you mimic the critical motions involved in strike and also requires you to press the release button to open the ball in half and place the Wiimote within before closing the ball. We are definite this device will work...
A good idea is one that makes everyone look up to you and say, “Nice”. A great idea is one that can cater to everyone, turn heads of those who claimed they had better ideas and of course, be desired for more than anything else. As a shining model before us, we have the Project Natal by Microsoft. When it was announced, this motion sensing game console concept was something that got everyone to turn nervously towards competition. Now...
What is main purpose of a video game? Some say it is for enhancing your reflex skills, your brain power etc. but what is the use if the game is going to play by itself and you are just going to sit there and watch it. The new move of games that will play by itself on Wii is clearly aimed at people who seriously suck at games. It is an option that allows the game to play by...
Making a mark in the gaming rig community, this fantastic Metal Gear Arcade by Famitsu has come in with enough oomph to get the die hard gamers by their pockets and spin them around in a battle of sixteen. Let me make it simpler. It can give you the pleasure of playing the game while sitting down, with 3-D glasses strapped to your eyes. The game will provide support for sixteen player matches and can also be just as...
Microsoft's ambitious Wii kicking Project Natal made an appearance last night on Jimmy Falon, with Falon and guests getting to try out the controller-less Xbox 360 add-on. They played Ricochet and Burnout the same games demoed at E3 as well. I still don't understand what's with the red jumpsuits. [Gearlive]...
