Younghui Kim's Stir-It-On Skirt to be men-alert

Stir-It-On_Skirt_1.jpg Fashion is a vast field with a variety of mixes and matches to try on. In the olden times, people used leaves and animal skin. Then they started using thread and fabrics weaved out of them. Then came fashion on paper and tissue. Now, since technology is in trend, there are creations with small units of electronics stuck to your clothes. New York based designer Younghui Kim has unveiled the Stir-It-On! Skirt that reacts to any close encounters. For instance, now on if you are very close to some scary pervert, your skirt will light up in different colours warning him off. Alternatively, the skirt will also light up if there is a cute guy in the vicinity and you try your hand moving closer to him.

The idea of such a marvelous interactive form of clothing came to the designer when she came across bioluminescent bay organism called dinoflagellates. It is a type of plankton that will light when stirred up. The skirt has LEDs, conductive thread and fabric, an Arduino and a capacitive touch sensor from the Quantum Research Group. It should be a fun wear, methinks, especially in a crowded place like New York where you can move one step without someone or the bumping into you. Or maybe in a dark cinema hall where the boyfriend gets cozy! That would be a sight.
