You may now switch on your mobiles in-flight

mobile_in-filght.jpg I always loved to fly! It brought back memories of my childhood when I could walk around the deck and occasionally just drop by the cockpit. Well now those days are not expected to come anytime soon unless I bought my own jet. The last solace I had was the comfort of sitting down on my economy allotted seat and listening to the jets hum away. Unfortunately that's about to change too, the nest time your onboard a UK-registered aircraft you will be in for a shock as your co-passenger flips her phone and yaps away as soon as the plane reaches it's 3000m altitude. Mobile phone use is currently banned onboard aircraft. The use of mobiles on planes flying in European airspace has been given approval by UK regulator Ofcom.

Currently the details of its implications are being worked out. The European Aviation Safety Agency needs to approve any hardware that would be installed in aircraft to ensure that it did not interfere with other flight systems. Don't want the pilot hearing in your wife's after dinner treat now would you?
