Will Sony's NV-U81T GPS make it to the States finally

In September 2006, Sony had announced the NV-U81T for the U.S. market, but that got lost in translation somewhere. The device resurfaced in Japan under the guise of NV-U1. Well all hopes of the gadget coming to the western shores are not yet dashed as the hard disk based NV-U81T has gone and registered and got the FCC approval. Some of the features of Sony NV-U81T include a 4.3″ touch screen with hands-free Bluetooth support. It also comes standard with traffic message channel receiver, and a 4GB 1″ hard disk for storage. Sony has also integrated gesture commands and position plus.
The position plus makes predictions about the location of the vehicle by listening to its acceleration sensor and a pressure sensor to provide more stable, reliable positioning information, even when GPS signals are degraded or briefly unavailable.

There is no word on pricing and availability of Sony's NV-U81T as yet.
