Wikipedia gets a $890,000 gift to make it more accessible to contributors

Wikipedia articles are based on input from any Internet user that believe they have reliable information on a topic and the idea that people that know better will quickly correct mistaken or misleading entries. The online encyclopedia is apparently concerned that the HTML coding that is presented to them when they click the “edit” button is scaring many would-be contributors away. The foundation that runs Wikipedia is getting an $890,000 grant from the Stanton Foundation to try to make the editing process more user-friendly. The grant will fund a team at the Wikimedia offices in San Francisco. Team members are to pinpoint what commonly prevents people from making Wikipedia entries and then eliminate those obstacles.
