If you're into robotics, then you will be pleased to learn about yet another very efficient and highly advanced walking robot: Flame. Daan Hobbelen of TU Delft has developed this energy-efficient and highly stable bot. Taking departure from the usual norm used while constructing industrial robots Hobbelen uses TU Delft pioneering method of construction robots based on the way humans walk. PhD student Daan's breakthrough came when he invented a suitable method for measuring the stability of the way people walk for the first time.

Flame will help gain insight into the walking process that can in turn help people with walking difficulties, through improved diagnoses, training and rehabilitation equipment. TU Delft is working on this together with motion scientists at VU University Amsterdam.
